Co-Parenting? There’s an App for That.

February 1, 2020

Apps on our devices are used in almost every facet of daily life, from time management to daily communication. And those are just some features that make apps useful for organizing the chaos that co-parenting households experience on a regular basis. There are, in fact, several apps designed to simplify co-parenting life. When interpersonal communication isn’t possible – or palatable – these apps can be lifesavers.

Versatility is key to managing the nuances of both co-parents’ households. Developed by a Ph.D. in psychology, WeParent ($9.99 per month, $99.99 per year or $199.99 for lifetime for entire family) specializes in communication and logistics. Co-parents can collaborate on custody schedules and other events and appointments with a shared calendar and individual various communication channels. Custody Connection (free with in-app upgrades) offers users a central calendar with a synchronized custody schedule. It allows co-parents to make “trade requests” to switch dates and records, and for accountability whether they are accepted or denied.

OurFamilyWizard, or “OFW,”(subscriptions start at $99 with a 30-day money-back guarantee) focuses on all important communication between co-parents. Developed by a divorced couple, OFW was designed to manage communication around calendaring, expenses and more. Each co-parent gets their own “parent” account with the ability to add “child” accounts, “third-party” accounts for grand-parents and other family members and “practitioner” accounts for attorneys, therapists or other professionals. Each parent account can add as many other accounts as they like for free. OFW even offers a “Tone Detector” to alert you to a gaff that could get you into trouble later.
